Kaneka Texas Corporation
August 10, 2000

Kaneka Texas Corporation (KTC) was founded in 1982 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Kaneka Corporation, Osaka, Japan. The plant is located on a 100-acre site southeast of Houston in the Bayport Industrial District at 6161 Underwood Road, Pasadena, TX, 77507. Marketing Offices are located at 2 Northpoint Dr., Suite 200, Houston, TX 77060

KTC started manufacturing operations in 1984 making impact modifier, Kane Ace B, for the plastics industry. Major additions to this plant occurred in 1987 and 1993, making it the largest modifier plant in the world.

In 1990 the production of expanded polyolefins, Eperan, began. This was one of the first plants to eliminate the use of Freon in the expansion process. This facility has more than doubled in size since 1990. This year a bumper molding plant was opened in Jackson, Michigan.

Also in 1990 production of polyimide film, Apical, began at this site. The capacity of this plant has also increased significantly since that time. This operation, Allied Apical, started as a joint venture between Kaneka Corporation and Allied Signal but has since become Kaneka High-Tech Materials (KHM), a wholly owned subsidiary of Kaneka Corporation.

These companies (KTC and KHM) have over 270 employees and 100 full time contractors.
